Day 1: Transfer to Nyerere National Park and Sunset Rufiji River Boat Safari
Your 4 Days Nyerere and Mikumi Safari begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam or Morogoro at around 5:30 AM. After a short safari briefing, you will begin the scenic drive to Nyerere National Park (formerly Selous Game Reserve), Africa’s largest protected wildlife reserve.
Upon arrival, you will check in to your lodge and enjoy a delicious lunch before preparing for one of the highlights of your safari—a sunset boat safari on the Rufiji River.
As you cruise along the river, you will have excellent opportunities to spot hippos, crocodiles, elephants, waterbirds, and other wildlife gathering along the riverbanks. The breathtaking sunset over the Rufiji River creates a truly unforgettable safari experience and offers fantastic photography opportunities.
Dinner and overnight: Your selected lodge or safari camp inside or near Nyerere National Park.
Day 2: Morning Game Drive in Nyerere National Park and Transfer to Mikumi
After an early breakfast, set out on a morning game drive through the vast wilderness of Nyerere National Park. Explore diverse landscapes including woodlands, open plains, river systems, and lakes while searching for lions, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and the rare African wild dog.
Following your game drive, begin the journey to Mikumi National Park via Kisaki Village and Morogoro, enjoying scenic views of Tanzania’s countryside along the way.
Upon arrival in Mikumi, check in to your accommodation and relax after the day’s adventure.

Day 3: Full-Day Mikumi National Park Game Drive and Maasai Cultural Experience
After breakfast, enjoy a full-day game drive in Mikumi National Park, one of Tanzania’s most accessible and wildlife-rich safari destinations. Explore the famous Mikumi Floodplain, often compared to the Serengeti because of its expansive grasslands and excellent wildlife viewing opportunities.
A picnic lunch will be served at Mikumi Wildlife Camp, where you may watch animals gathering around nearby waterholes while you dine.
In the afternoon, continue your wildlife safari before visiting a traditional Maasai village (Boma). Here you will learn about the Maasai people’s fascinating history, customs, traditional homes, and pastoral way of life. You will also have the opportunity to enjoy traditional Maasai dances and cultural performances, creating a meaningful cultural connection with one of East Africa’s most iconic communities.

Wake up early for a memorable sunrise game drive in Mikumi National Park, beginning at around 6:30 AM. The early morning hours offer some of the best wildlife viewing opportunities, as predators are often still active and many animals gather in the open plains.
After your game drive, return to your lodge for breakfast before beginning the scenic drive back to Dar es Salaam via Morogoro.
Upon arrival in Dar es Salaam, our team will transfer you to Julius Nyerere International Airport, the ferry terminal, your hotel, or your residence, marking the end of your unforgettable 4 Days Nyerere and Mikumi National Park Safari Adventure.
